Flame retardant curtains provide an added measure of safety and protection to your home, which is an especially important consideration in choosing your window treatments if you have children or pets. You can either use a flame retardant spray on your existing window treatments, or you can purchase curtains made from flame retardant fabric.
Flamex PF is a clear, non-toxic indoor fire retardant penetrant which is non-hazardous to the environment. This product works by self-extinguishing flames. It can be applied by spraying or immersing and is suitable for drapery, but it cannot be used on acrylic fabrics. Fire Tect is another flame retardant spray which can be used on most fabrics, but it does not work well on permanent press, nylon, acetate or acrylic fabrics. It is recommended that you test these products on fabric swatches first to check compatibility. Based on customer reviews, although most buyers are satisfied with these products, there have been complaints of unwanted odors or powdery deposits resulting from application of these sprays.
