Sophisticated Semi-Detached House

The homeowner of this sophisticated semi-detached house wanted a functional open kitchen adjacent to the living room and a lounge-style dining room, and the look was achieved with a classic-meets-contemporary design approach. The living room is grounded by an impressive fireplace clad in a matte finish honed material which emulates a Nero marble look; the space is mostly black and white with some textures and interesting accessories. Walnut on the island, open shelving and vent hood give a contemporary take to the kitchen which has black Shaker cabinetry, island that repeats the Nero marble look of the fireplace, and a white backsplash with an aged patina handmade look. Directly in the back of the home is the dining room with glass doors that open to the patio. More of a lounge in its design, the space has a long impressive banquette, a beautiful dining table, and a true bar with a sink, fridge and lots of storage. The pretty powder room has William Morris-inspired wallpaper, black fixtures and a black toilet.

At the top of the stairs is the home office (converted landing) which also serves as the central hub of the second floor. The primary bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, four poster bed and a built-in black Shaker style closet with flat front drawers. Rich olive green tile covers one wall and runs into the shower in the ensuite bath, which has a simulated terrazzo floor, walnut vanity, soaking tub, traditional sconces and warm brass fixtures.
