Contemporary Home with an Italian Flavor

The technique of Chiaroscuro (working with light and dark) was used to design this contemporary home with an Italian flavor. Lots of natural light fill the lounge which has white walls, a fireplace with a micro cement finish, a seating area, and a dining area with a banquette and table that is expandable to accommodate sixteen people. In the back of the home is the kitchen which has wood-look porcelain tile laid in a herringbone pattern, a mix of light and steel blue shaker cabinetry, quartzite countertops and backsplash, and a butler’s pantry. Opposite the kitchen is the family room with its dark stone fireplace flanked by banquettes with arched sconces. The powder room walls are wrapped in a playful black-and-white cork wall covering that mimics soap bubbles. A large walk-in closet with white oak millwork leads into the principal suite which has a stepped ceiling and a feature pendant light. The ensuite bath has a freestanding bathtub, his and hers vanities with custom mirrors, and marble-look porcelain floor tile. Take the tour in this House & Home video:
